0.0

Description

LOCTITE® SI 5699 is a commercial-grade, high-performance RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) silicone gasket sealant engineered primarily for rigid flange sealing in heavy-duty industrial applications. Formulated for high-resistance to oils, water-glycol, and severe operational vibrations, this flexible silicone sealant cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture to form a tough, durable rubber gasket. It is the industrial standard for sealing cast metal housings, transmissions, and stamped sheet metal covers.

As a leading industrial supplier, we maintain this product in stock to support your production and maintenance timelines. Ideal for volume procurement, our commercial-grade formulations ensure high-reliability performance across demanding industrial environments.

Key Features & Industrial Benefits

  • Superior Oil & Fluid Resistance: Specifically engineered for high-reliability sealing on rigid flanges, including transmissions and cast metal housings.
  • Rapid Tack-Free Time: Achieves a tack-free state in just 10 minutes, minimizing assembly line downtime.
  • Water-Glycol Compatibility: Ideal for stamped sheet metal covers and machined or cast surfaces where water-glycol resistance is critical.
  • Certified Compliance: Registered to NSF Category P1 (Reg. No. 122998) for use as a sealant in and around food processing areas where there is no possibility of food contact.

Technical Specifications

  • Curing Type: Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV)
  • Color: Grey
  • Tensile Shear Strength: 1.7 N/mm² (determined according to ISO 4587)
  • Full Cure Temperature: 77°F (23±2 °C, 60±5% RH)
  • Key Substrates: Metal, Plastic (machined, cast, or stamped surfaces)
  • Application: Flange Sealing / Gasketing
  • Optimal Storage Conditions: Store unopened between 8°C to 21°C. Storage below 8°C or greater than 28°C can adversely affect product properties.

Application Guidelines

  1. Surface Preparation: For optimal bonding, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and thoroughly degreased.
  2. Assembly: Moisture curing begins immediately upon exposure to air. Mate parts within a few minutes of dispensing.
  3. Curing: Allow the bond to fully cure before subjecting the component to heavy service loads.
  4. Cleanup: Excess uncured material can be easily wiped away using non-polar solvents. Ensure your maintenance team is equipped with proper PPE during handling.
Usage Restrictions: LOCTITE SI 5699 is not recommended for contact with gasoline. Do not use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen-rich systems, and do not select as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is LOCTITE SI 5699 resistant to gasoline or petroleum fuels?
A: No. LOCTITE SI 5699 exhibits excellent resistance to automotive oils and water-glycol mixtures, but it is explicitly not recommended for continuous contact with gasoline or high-solvent petroleum fuels.

Q: How long does it take for LOCTITE SI 5699 to fully cure?
A: LOCTITE SI 5699 becomes tack-free within 10 minutes at room temperature. However, the depth of cure depends heavily on environmental temperature and humidity. For heavy service loads, a full cure cycle of up to seven (7) days is recommended.

Q: Can LOCTITE SI 5699 be used in food processing facilities?
A: Yes. LOCTITE SI 5699 holds an NSF International P1 Registration (No. 122998). It is approved for use as a sealant in and around food processing areas, provided there is no possibility of direct food contact.
