Description

LOCTITE® 3900, a premium commercial-grade acrylic resin conformal coating engineered to protect printed circuit boards (PCBs), electronic components, and thick-film circuits. This fast-drying shadow cure formula is completely free of chlorinated solvents and CFCs, ensuring environmental compliance without sacrificing performance. It forms a tough, solvent-resistant, and high dielectric barrier that safeguards sensitive electronics against harsh industrial environments, moisture, and contamination.

Designed for high-efficiency production lines, LOCTITE 3900 features a precision spray nozzle for uniform coverage and fast processing. We maintain wholesale inventory in stock and ready to ship, providing procurement managers and engineers with reliable lead times and competitive bulk pricing.

Key Product Benefits & Applications

  • High Dielectric Strength: Delivers excellent electrical insulation performance for dense electronic assemblies and thick-film circuits.
  • Advanced Environmental Protection: Forms a resilient, solvent-resistant barrier against moisture, dust, and chemical exposure.
  • Eco-Compliant Formulation: Manufactured entirely free of chlorinated solvents or CFCs to meet strict industrial safety and environmental standards.
  • Reworkable Engineering: Cured coatings can be easily removed by soaking in acetone, allowing for efficient localized desoldering, component replacement, and reapplication.

Directions for Industrial Application

  1. Ensure the substrate surface is completely free of flux, grease, ionic residue, or contaminants. Mask the board using industrial if required.
  2. Shake the aerosol can thoroughly before use.
  3. Hold the can 15 to 20 cm from the surface and spray the board with a steady, even motion. Keeping the PCB in a horizontal position during application is recommended to achieve an even coating.
  4. Rotate the board and repeat the application 2 to 3 times for optimal coverage.
  5. Prior to handling or testing, ensure operators use appropriate to maintain surface cleanliness.

Note: This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen-rich systems and must not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the full cure time and tack-free time for LOCTITE 3900?
When applied at a recommended thickness of 0.05 to 0.07 mm at 22°C and 40 to 60% RH, LOCTITE 3900 air dries tack-free within 5 minutes. A full structural cure requires 24 hours at 22°C.

Can LOCTITE 3900 conformal coating be removed for PCB rework?
Yes. The cured acrylic resin layer can be removed by soaking the assembly in acetone. Localized component replacement can also be executed by soldering directly through the coating followed by a localized reapplication.
