Description

Loctite 592 PTFE Thread Sealant is a medium-strength, off-white anaerobic thread sealing paste engineered for maximum efficacy in thread sealing. This industrial-grade adhesive permanently seals metal pipe threads and fittings, preventing costly leaks and fluid loss caused by vibration and high pressures. Whether you are securing hydraulic lines or pneumatic fittings, this premium lubricating thread sealant provides a robust, leak-proof seal on all metal surfaces—including stainless steel and aluminum.

Why Choose Loctite 592 PTFE Thread Sealant?

  • Prevents Galling: Lubricating paste prevents galling on pipe threads and fittings during assembly.
  • Immediate Low-Pressure Sealing: Provides immediate low-pressure sealing and allows for the readjustment of fittings shortly after assembly.
  • High Viscosity Formula: Thick paste consistency (350,000 mPa.s) helps thoroughly fill large voids and threads without running.
  • Anaerobic Cure: The formula cures securely once confined between close-fitting metal threads, reaching full pressure resistance against pipe burst pressure after 72 hours.
  • High Temperature Resistance: Suits harsh environments with an operational temperature range from -65°F up to 400°F (-54°C to 204°C).

Simple Application Instructions

  1. Clean: For optimal results, clean all internal and external surfaces with a LOCTITE® cleaning solvent and let dry. (If the material is an inactive metal or the cure speed is too slow, spray with LOCTITE® Primer NF™ and allow to dry).
  2. Apply: Apply a 360° bead of product to the leading threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free. Force the material into the threads to thoroughly fill the voids. For bigger threads, apply a 360° bead on the female threads as well.
  3. Assemble: Assemble and wrench tighten fittings in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations. Properly tightened fittings will seal instantly to moderate pressures. For maximum pressure and solvent resistance, allow the product to cure for a minimum of 24 to 72 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Loctite 592 used for?

Loctite 592 is a medium-strength anaerobic thread sealant paste designed for sealing and securing metal pipes and fittings. It is specifically formulated to prevent leaks, fluid loss, and galling due to high-pressure environments, vibration, and thermal expansion.

Can Loctite 592 be disassembled?

Yes. It can typically be removed with standard hand tools. Where hand tools do not work because of excessive engagement length or large diameters (over 1"), apply localized heat to approximately 250°C and disassemble while hot.

Does Loctite 592 work on plastic?

No. Loctite 592 is an anaerobic adhesive specifically formulated for metal substrates. It is completely unsuitable for plastic piping.

How should Loctite 592 be stored?

Store the product in its unopened container in a dry location. The optimal storage temperature range is between 8°C and 21°C. Storage below 8°C or greater than 28°C can adversely affect its properties.
