Description

LOCTITE EA 9466 is a commercial-grade, 2-part structural bonding epoxy adhesive engineered for high-strength applications requiring an extended open time. Formulated for demanding manufacturing and repair environments, LOCTITE EA 9466 delivers high shear strength, superior peel resistance, and exceptional impact resistance across a wide range of metals and rigid plastics.

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Extended Work Life: Long open time allows ample flexibility for positioning and adjusting parts during complex assembly workflows.
  • High Mechanical Strength: Delivers exceptional shear strength and high peel resistance on grit-blasted steel and rigid industrial substrates.
  • Environmental & Chemical Resistance: Cured bond line withstands exposure to a wide range of industrial chemicals, solvents, and moisture.
  • Electrical Insulation: Functions as an excellent electrical insulator for electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Room Temperature Curing: Cures reliably at room temperature after mixing, eliminating the need for expensive heat-curing equipment.

Directions for Use & Application Guidelines

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure substrate surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, paint, and surface oxidation. Clean surfaces thoroughly using a commercial degreasing solvent.
  2. Dispensing & Mixing: Load the 50ml dual cartridge into a standard 2-part manual dispenser gun. Dispense a small amount to verify uniform flow from both barrels, then attach a static mix nozzle for automatic mixing.
  3. Assembly & Cure: Apply adhesive immediately after mixing to one or both surfaces. Join parts and clamp securely to prevent movement during cure. Allow 24 hours at room temperature for full structural strength before subjecting to operational loads. Clean uncured excess adhesive using organic solvents such as acetone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What substrates are compatible with LOCTITE EA 9466?

A: LOCTITE EA 9466 provides excellent bond strength to a wide variety of engineering metals (grit-blasted steel, aluminum) and plastics, making it ideal for general-purpose structural bonding.

Q: What is the optimal storage temperature for LOCTITE EA 9466?

A: Store unopened cartridges in a dry location at temperatures between 8 °C and 21 °C. Storage below 8 °C or above 28 °C can adversely affect the material properties.

Q: Can LOCTITE EA 9466 be used in pure oxygen or chemical piping systems?

A: No. LOCTITE EA 9466 is not recommended for use in pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, nor should it be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

Q: How long should parts be held in place before subjecting them to service loads?

A: Assembled parts should remain fixed during the initial cure and allowed to cure for 24 hours at room temperature before being subjected to full operational service loads.
